Knowle village Hall play area
The original play equipment was put in in 2002, our annual inspection has condemned a lot of it and most needs replacing. We had a choice to remove it entirely or raise funds to replace it. The Project Team soon discovered that planning permission was necessary and to obtain East Devon council money from the S106 budget, we would have to consult local children.
During the spring and summer the process of consultation and tendering was completed which enabled us to apply for planning permission based on the winning design from Wickstead. Planning permission was finally granted in September and has permitted the submission of further grant applications and progress towards securing the S106 funds. Whatever the outcome of these applications it is our intention to begin the process of replacing the play area over the autumn and winter.
So far, apart from money from the hall funds, we have received substantial financial support from:-
Exeter Chiefs Foundation
The Fryer Recreational Trust
Budleigh Salterton Town Council
Devon County Council
The Lions Club
The Lord Clinton Charitable Trust

Flower & Produce Show
The hall has held an annual show for as long as any of the committee can remember. It is usually held in July when there is an abundance of flowers, although for 3 years it was changed to September which was good for the vegetable entries. It is open to anybody in East Devon who grow their own flowers, fruit and veg or people who like cooking. There is a children’s section and also a craft section.
In 2019 the Show will be held on Saturday 20th July. Entries to be submitted by 10.30am. Doors open to the public for viewing and refreshments from 2pm.
Carol singing evening at the village hall
For the last 5 years we have held a Carol Singing evening at the hall just before Christmas with Mulled wine and nibbles. Peter Manfield kindly arranges a few friends to play while many people from the village have a good sing. A favourite seems to be the 12 days of Christmas.
