Thanks to everyone who made our Jubilee picnic such a success - to the volunteers who decorated the village hall and made cake, served teas and supervised games for the children. A special thanks to our musicians, the Otter Folk Group and Adam & Emma who had us all tapping our feet and lifted our spirits after all the social restrictions of the last two years. Thanks to Whizzbang for their zany antics which were hugely appreciated by children of all ages. Most of all thank you for supporting us. It was a memorable day!

We are planning a Jubilee event on Sunday 5th June. This will be a family picnic with children's games and entertainment. More details later but put the date in your diary.
The Village Hall committee is planning to hold a Queen's Jubilee party for the village, surrounding area and friends of the hall. The date for this will be Sunday, 5th June. We need to determine the level of interest in this event. The time scale is tight, so if this event is to be a success, we would like to know:-
There is a new fitness class being held at the village hall on Thursday mornings at 9.00am. This class is suitable for anyone looking to improve their fitness with low impact exercise that is fun and upbeat.
Beginners are welcome. Please contact Chelsey the instructor from Body First for more information. 07540 455669 bodyfirst2016@hotmail.com The trustees and volunteers will be doing weeding and general maintenance at the play park and village hall on Saturday 22nd Jaunuary.
We are also close to our target for the funding of a defibrillator for the hall. So watch this space for developments. Our recent Jumble Sale raised a grand total of £284.00 towards our defibrillator fund for the village hall.
We were also thrilled to receive an additional individual donation of £100.00. Thank you to all those who donated items, who helped at the sale and, most of all, those people who turned out on such a wet day and supported this worthy cause. We hope to hold another sale before Christmas so keep saving those serviceable but no longer needed items Our long-awaited Jumble Sale will take place at the Village Hall on Saturday, 2nd October at 12 noon Proceeds will help to fund our plan for a defibrillator for the village hall.
Donations may be left on the morning of the sale. Last year we cleared the boundary of our play park and planted a broad range of young trees. This will provide a natural wildlife habitat and preserve and protect this lovely space for the future. These fledgling trees are doing well but the undergrowth is making a comeback. A working party was busy on Saturday, 12th June, clearing the space around the miniature trees, preventing nettles and other invasive species from depriving the trees of light and nutrients. Our living willow tunnel has been trimmed and interwoven and is growing well
We are really excited that we will soon be able to open the hall to a wider group of activities; for example, on 17th May we expect that organised exercise classes can resume and we can start to deal with some of the lockdown sag. Our new online booking system is up and running on the new website and it is much easier to see what is available. Classes are already beginning to book up slots, so to avoid disappointment, check the calendar and send in your online booking enquiry. Of course we need users to keep Covid secure so we are continuing to provide hand sanitiser, disposable towels and antiviral cleaner whilst ensuring our new cleaner keeps on top of the overall cleanliness of the hall. The committee have worked hard throughout this crisis to open as much as possible and can’t wait to see all of our classes, rehearsals, children’s groups and parties return.
